A singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Daisy Abrams never shies away from sharing her innermost thoughts and most vulnerable experiences. Daisy grew up in LA and started playing classical piano when she was 5. She discovered the power of songwriting when she was 13 as a way to navigate the challenges of adolescence and inherent loneliness. From then on, songwriting became Daisy’s most reliable companion to face all of life’s ups and downs.
When she went to college in Philadelphia, she majored in music, which gave her the opportunity to bridge the gap between classical music and her songwriting. Composers like Debussy and Chopin soon joined artists like Elliott Smith and the Punch Brothers as some of her greatest influences. While living in Philadelphia, Daisy became part of the DIY scene, playing house shows and opening for artists like Reign of Kindo. During a study abroad semester in Galway, Ireland, Daisy fell completely in love with the landscape and people. While there, she wrote a song a week, capturing both the uneventful and the life-altering. She connected with many local Galway musicians, and moved back at the beginning of 2020 to pick up where she left off.
On her debut album, “Everywhere I’m Not,” Daisy seeks to tackle themes of nostalgia, inadequacy, disappointment, loneliness, and addiction. It’s a collection of songs written in various places that have captured her heart, but it’s also an examination into her unease in the present moment and her longing to always be elsewhere. Her inclusion of dark memories tied to idealized places is a reminder that no single place or person is the missing piece. Together with long-time friend and producer John Fox, the two have created a record that is full of color and relatable sentiments.
While the stage is where Daisy feels the most herself, you can often find her sitting in a park reading Irish poetry or attempting to convince her friends that Haikyuu!! is must-watch television.
